Welcome! I am so excited to work with you! Before our first session together, please fill out your intake paperwork via your client portal the day before we meet so I can review it. You will receive a text or email depending on your preference to remind you of your upcoming appointment. Ensure you have a strong WIFI connection and a private space, so we can have session without any technical difficulties.
We will spend our first session getting to know you: what difficulties are you facing now? What do you want to get out of therapy? What are your friends and family like? Who do you rely on? What is work/school like? I'll ask some questions about your social and medical history, review policies together, assess for suicidality, make a safety plan, provide you some immediate resources, and the rest is up to you. You are in control and set the pace for our work together.
FYI Our initial session can be intense! Be prepared to meet for 90 minutes.
Therapy is personal and everyone has different needs so it depends on the individual. People can be in therapy for a short period of time, anywhere from 3-6 months, to deal with something like a recent loss or a breakup, or it can be more long term, lasting several years. I will personalize your treatment to best fit your needs and check in with you frequently to ensure we’re making progress towards your goals.
We are currently in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic and I value your safety and that of those around you. I am not currently accepting in person appointments, however, offer Telehealth appointments via a HIPAA compliant platform. In the future, I plan to offer a hybrid model of Telehealth and in person appointments.
Almost everything we discuss during session remains private and is protected by HIPAA except for a few things. As a mandated reported, I am obligated to disclose if you are at risk of hurting yourself, hurting someone else, or if there is a suspicion of child abuse. Other than those exceptions, everything else is confidential.
I am not a crisis therapist and have limited availability outside of our session time. During our sessions, that 60 minutes belongs to you and I will give you my undivided attention. I strive to give all my clients this level of attention. I will give you many resources during our first appointment if you need additional support. If you are in a medical or mental health emergency situation, please go to your nearest hospital emergency room, call 911, call your psychiatrist/physician, or a family member/friend.
If you need to talk to someone right away call your local Psychiatric Emergency Services or resources below:
If you need to call me outside our session time, phone calls over five minutes will be charged at my prorated rate. If a phone call goes to a half hour, you will need to make an appointment for a second session that week. If this is something that becomes commonplace, you may need a higher level of care and I will provide you a referral for more appropriate services. For your convenience, you can schedule appointments here.
Making sure you and I are a good fit matters more than the credentials I have (though I do have some awesome credentials). Schedule a free fifteen minute consultation with me so we can determine I will be the therapist to best serve your needs.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida. You can learn more about me here.
You can only practice in the state in which you are licensed. I am currently licensed in Florida, but have plans to extend my licensure to other states. Stay tuned!
It depends on how late your cancelation or rescheduling is. If you cancel/reschedule before 24 hours, you will not incur any fee. If you cancel after the 24 hour window, you will be charged a $50 fee. If you do not show up for session, you will be held financially responsible for the total cost of session. The detailed attendance policy and fee schedule will be in your intake paperwork.
I believe in making therapy accessible to all and am now accepting Aetna, United Healthcare, Oxford Health Plans, Oscar, UHC Student Resources, and Harvard Pilgrim.
I am in the process of credentialing with other insurance companies, but if you do not have these providers, we can still work together! I can provide you a superbill for possible reimbursement from your insurance company. You will be responsible for the fees at the time of our session, but depending on your plan and coverage, some of that may be reimbursed to to you by your insurance company. Contact your insurance to learn more about your out-of-network benefits and ask the best address to send a superbill.
